Wesak Day

Wesak Day

Wesak Day, also known as Vesak, is the most important Buddhist festival. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Gautama Buddha. The celebration takes place on the full moon of the lunar month of Vesākha, which usually falls between April, May, or June. In Malaysia, Wesak Day is observed on the day of the first full moon of Vesakha, which typically occurs between mid-May and June. This holiday involves religious gatherings, meditation, observing the Eight Precepts, partaking of vegetarian food, and giving to charity. It’s a righteous way to honor Lord Buddha’s teachings and lead a virtuous life. In 2024, Wesak Day will be celebrated on Thursday, May 23rd.
